Jennifer A. Needs

Jennifer A. Needs is a partner at SMTD Law LLP.  She has diverse legal experience and concentrates her practice in construction, surety, lending, and real estate matters.

Ms. Needs counsels clients throughout the project lifecycle, including contract drafting and review, risk analysis, and claims strategy.  She represents clients in federal and state courts, arbitration, and other dispute resolution proceedings.  Her experience includes complex contract and payment disputes, creditor remedies, foreclosure and enforcement actions, business tort claims, corporate formation and compliance matters, leasing, unlawful detainer proceedings, collections, and post-judgment enforcement.

Ms. Needs is an active member of the Associated General Contractors of California Legal Advisory Committee, where she contributes to legal developments affecting the construction industry.  She also regularly speaks and writes on construction law topics.  Ms. Needs is a member of the California Lawyers Association and the Orange County Bar Association.

While in law school, Ms. Needs worked as a research assistant to a European Supreme Court Justice and served on three volumes of the Texas International Law Journal, ultimately acting as Chief Articles and Notes Editor. She attended college as a National Merit Scholar and studied abroad in Spain.
